๐ Lukiih’s Verdict
Visiting El Salvador’s Puerta del Diablo is worth it if you want to get outside San Salvador and catch a scenic sunset, but I wouldn’t visit the capital just to see it.
- The rock formation has three viewpoints, with the tallest one (called “Chulon”) offering panoramic views. You can see several of El Salvador’s volcanoes and lakes from two of these viewpoints. The view is nice, uncrowded and a great way to escape the city, but it’s not uniquely mindblowing.
- Entrance to Puerta del Diablo is affordable. The parking lot costs $1 per vehicle, and two of the viewpoints cost $3 each. I paid $10 for a round-trip ride from the capital.
- Minimal preparation is required. You’ll need to find 30-45 minute transportation to the rock formation and can get tickets at the door. The climb up to the viewpoints is doable for most people and only takes 10-20 minutes.
